The name "Duck Pond Software" came from Jan's living in Discovery Bay on the San Joaquin River Delta. There are ducks, geese, blue heron in her "backyard" (the river). From living on Drakes Drive (drake - defn: male duck). And from enjoying golf at the Discovery Bay Country Club which has more water hazards (lakes => ducks) than any other golf course.
Jan also enjoys blogging about software, management, life, and politics (state water issues) - see
